Tokiwa Music and Dance Academy
(Fukushima Prefectural Governor-approved miscellaneous school)

Tokiwa Music and Dance Academy opened in April 1965, one year before the opening of Tokiwa Hawaiian Center, as Japan's first school of hula dance and Polynesian folk dance, with instructors from all walks of life. With a tradition spanning more than 40 years, the Academy has sent over 300 graduates onto the glamorous stage. Many of its students are still active at the forefront as dancers and instructors.

"Emau: Connecting smiles for 100 years"

Since its opening 60 years ago, the theater has continued to take on new challenges and evolve. The title "E mau" is a Hawaiian word meaning "May it continue." While looking back on the theater's history since the days of the Joban coal mine, the theater will present a diverse program that symbolizes hope for the future.
